Debt PDF Print E-mail

In the current economic climate, more people than ever before are struggling with debt.  With rising costs of the basic needs of food and heating, together with reductions in earnings and numbers hours worked, together with continuing job losses, especially in the local area, more and more people are facing a financial juggling act.

In December 2011, outstanding personal debt was an astonishing £1.451 Trillion, Average household debt (including mortgages) was £55,823.

Total Credit card debt was £55.8 Billion and during November 2011 purchases using cards totalled £1.252 Billion.

Between September 2011 and November 2011, the number of people unemployed rose by 118,000 on the previous three months.

Between October and December 2011, 9,200 properties were repossessed.  This is equal to 101 properties every day.  Within the same period there were 30,219 individual insolvencies.

CAS (Community Advice Services), has continued to work in partnership with North East Lincolnshire Council to administer the various options available under the Mortgage Rescue Scheme.  This work has resulted in our debt specialist assisting clients through the complicated County Court procedures to prevent clients from losing their homes.

More and more people need help and advice around bankruptcy, which is a very bureaucratic and complex process that many people are daunted by.  Locally and nationally, personal bankruptcy has risen and continues to rise.

At CAS (Community Advice Services), we understand debt and that it often arises through no fault or action of the person owing it.  More importantly, we have the advice and solutions to help you deal with it, and to keep creditors satisfied.  We understand the importance of one-to-one debt help and offer assistance in all matters relating to debt.
