Community Advice Service (CAS) is a Grimsby-based project which was established in April 2006 in response to the growing numbers of people in North East Lincolnshire who were facing a range of overwhelming social and economic problems. CAS provides high quality advice, assistance and representation in the following areas of social law:
- Welfare benefits
- Housing
- Homelessness
- Debt
- Employment
- General Legal queries

Do you have a complaint about any type of NHS treatment?
Are you unhappy with a service provided by the NHS?
From June 2011 CAS are pleased to be working in partnership with ICAS - The Independent Compaints Advocacy Service
For more than seven years ICAS has been supporting people who wish to complain about their National Health Service (NHS) treatment or care.
During this time, this free, confidential and independent service has helped ovee 30,000 people navigate their way around the NHS complaints procedure.
In supporting complainants it has helped individuals understand their rights, make informed choices and given them a voice.
Anyone is entitles to contact ICAS for help in making a complaint about NHS funded treatment or care. This service also supports people who wish to make a complaint on behalf of someone else.
On the first Thursday of every month ICAS will be offering drop in sessions at CAS Head Office in Kent Street.

In the current economic climate, more people than ever before are struggling with debt. With rising costs of the basic needs of food and heating, together with reductions in earnings and numbers hours worked, together with continuing job losses, especially in the local area, more and more people are facing a financial juggling act.
In December 2011, outstanding personal debt was an astonishing £1.451 Trillion, Average household debt (including mortgages) was £55,823.
Total Credit card debt was £55.8 Billion and during November 2011 purchases using cards totalled £1.252 Billion.
Between September 2011 and November 2011, the number of people unemployed rose by 118,000 on the previous three months.
Between October and December 2011, 9,200 properties were repossessed. This is equal to 101 properties every day. Within the same period there were 30,219 individual insolvencies.
At CAS (Community Advice Services), we understand debt and that it often arises through no fault or action of the person owing it. More importantly, we have the advice and solutions to help you deal with it, and to keep creditors satisfied. We understand the importance of one-to-one debt help and offer assistance in all matters relating to debt.

CAS provides housing advice to both landlords and tenants within North East Lincolnshire.
We advise both tenants and owner-occupiers about their housing rights. Advice is available for individuals facing possession actions and evictions in the County Court, harassment, disrepair, rent arrears and housing benefit issues. We also offer advice on homelessness and housing allocation by social landlords
Our debt and housing rights specialist advisers provide expertise in representation and advocacy for any County Court matter.

CAS delivers services that are easily accessible to everyone. A Drop In service is available 5 days a week between 9am-12noon, call in to our Kent Street office if you need advice on welfare benefits, housing, debt and general advice.
We have appointments available every weekday afternoon.
Outreach Advice Sessions in the Community
We hold a number of advice sessions in and around Grimsby, you can call in without an appointment and speak to one of our advisors.
