Our placements and volunteers are engaged in a wide range of tasks including warehousing, driving, delivering, customer service, reception, administration, fundraising, furniture repair and electrical testing.
During the year 13, equating to over 25% of our placements and volunteers have been successful in finding employment as a direct consequence of gaining skills, qualifications and confidence form working for the organisation.
2011 saw Community Chest expanded our Portable Appliance Testing to local organisations and businesses testing over 1325 electrical items versus 464 the previous year.
Community Chest also provides a House Clearance service to support the local community resulting in 12 houses being emptied in 2011 within North East Lincolnshire and the majority of furniture being renovated and reused.
Environmentally in 2011, the activities of the Charity collected almost 120 tonnes of furniture and white goods, this not only reduces the amount of material that could potentially enter landfill but also reduces the consumption of virgin materials that go into the manufacture of new furniture and house wares.
