VOLUNTEER IN WAREHOUSING

The aim of East Marsh Community Trust is to relieve poverty, hardship and distress among people and households in North East Lincolnshire and its surrounding areas through the provision of low cost furniture and household goods.

 

As a Warehouse Operative you will work under the direction and be responsible to the Warehouse Supervisor.

 

You MUST carry out duties in compliance with East Marsh Community Trust Health and Safety and Equal Opportunities policies and procedures.

 

Your role as a Warehouse Operative at East Marsh Community Trust will include the following tasks;

 

  • Lifting, moving, stacking furniture, household goods and effects.
  • Preparing non-electrical goods for re-use/sale by carrying out safety checks, minor repairs, cleaning and labelling.
  • Assisting in stock management and the organisation of the warehouse and loading/unloading of the van.
  • Carrying out visual checks and other safety checks on electrical goods (only after relevant training) under the supervision of qualified Staff
  • Assisting in preparation of materials for safe and environmentally sound disposal.
  • Carrying out building and work space maintenance tasks.
  • Deal with members of the public in a friendly and efficient manner
  • Liaise and work closely with the Warehouse Supervisor and Training Coordinator

 

Supervision

The role has no responsibilities for the supervision of others. To provide team leadership experience you may be asked to lead a team for a short period of tie or for a given task under the supervision of the Warehouse Supervisor or other member of Staff.

 

Work Context

Duties will be carried out in a warehouse environment and you must comply with Community Chest policy and procedures with regard to Personal Protective Equipment, Safe Manual Handling and general Health and Safety.
